Fostering Unity in Papua: TNI's Social Communication Brings Joy to Yalai Residents

INTAN JAYA - In a heartwarming display of unity and community care, the 509/Balawara Yudha Kostrad Task Force of the Indonesian Armed Forces (TNI), stationed under Operational Command HABEMA, is winning hearts in Papua Tengah Province. On Wednesday, November 27, 2024, soldiers from J2 Post, led by Captain Patria, conducted Social Communication (Komsos) with the residents of Yalai Village, Sugapa District.

This initiative, carried out during their mobile security operations along the Papua-New Guinea border, highlights TNI's commitment to fostering trust and strengthening ties with local communities. The activity forms part of the Indonesian Government's mission to accelerate development in the Papua region while ensuring its security and prosperity.

The event saw the soldiers warmly engaging with villagers, listening to their concerns, and providing much-needed essentials, including free vitamins and food. “The situation in Yalai remains safe and peaceful, ” shared a resident during the discussions. The villagers expressed gratitude for the soldiers' unwavering dedication, with Mama Maria Tabuni stating, “Thank you, Commander 509. God bless you.”

Lieutenant Colonel Dian Dessiawan Setyadi, Commander of the 509 Task Forces, emphasized the importance of these initiatives in uplifting the community. "Our goal is not only to safeguard the region but also to serve as a bridge between the government and the people, ensuring that development reaches every corner of Papua, " he explained.

Brigadier General Lucky Avianto, Commanding General of HABEMA, lauded the Task Forces for their impactful work. “This initiative embodies the spirit of TNI: professional, inclusive, and dedicated to national development, ” he said.
